It's now 1pm, and the fireworks sound like they're going off all over the place. The narrator can't figure out why she's not able to ask Mr. Takeru about his ship. He's got a headache, and he's worried about what's going on in his life. He doesn't know how to get out of it. He tells himself that everything is fine, and that he'll just have to take it easy on himself for a little while. He asks if he can ask her about her new boyfriend, but she'll have to wait until after the fireworks go off. She tells herself that she can ask him about the ship, but that's because the fireworks are so loud that it's hard to hear him. She's also worried that the fireworks will make her look like a total jerk. She asks if she can go out and have a drink with her friends, but they won't let her. They're not going to let her talk about her boyfriend with them, though, because that'll be too much for her to handle.
