The scene opens with a conversation between the Governess and her daughter. The Governess tells her daughter that the festival is coming up and that she should come and see it. She tells her that she has to go to the festival and she asks her daughter if she can come with her. She says that she can't because she's busy with her work and she doesn't have time to see the festival. When she asks him if he's going to the club, he says that he'll be going to a friend's house. He says that his friend is going to have a break day today and that he was thinking about going there, but he was going to be lonely. He asks her if she'll support him and she says yes. She asks if he can tell her coach that she likes him. He laughs and says that it's okay to say that because he likes her so much. They talk about how they're going to go swimming
