In this chapter, the narrator introduces the new students at the Netherworld Training Camp. They are all from different parts of the world, and they all have different levels of education. One of the students introduces himself as "Liu kai" , and he is from the province of Jianzhang. He tries to be friendly with the other students, but they are too scared to talk to him. He tells them that his father told him that two people can be more successful than one, and that they should not move or listen to what the instructor is saying. He also tells them not to do anything that might offend the instructor. The first day of the training camp has begun, and the students are eager to be recognized by the instructors. The instructor tells the students that half of them have been eliminated from the class in the last three months. The narrator then tells the story of how the first class of students is selected, and how they are given a book to read.
