The chapter opens with a flashback to the previous chapter, in which Cai Mingyu explains how he was able to catch elder zhou in his lightning bolts. He explains that he has made a great contribution to the Ming family, and that he is afraid that his former companion, who is now a disciple of his master, will try to kill him. He asks the leader of the sect to leave the matter alone, but the leader refuses to do so, saying that it will only scare him further. He then reveals that the phoenix birds were brought to him by a former companion of his, who saved him during a battle. The chapter ends with the chapter's epigraph: "the eighth level of the qi condensation" .
