In this chapter, we learn that the immortal i was saved from death by a family. He promised to take one of the family's descendants as his disciple and that he'd arrive as soon as he lit the incense. The incense has been burning for three years now, and the smell of it makes the immortal wonder why he's been burning it for so long. He's the grandson of the current generation of villagers, and he can't bear the thought of leaving them behind. He asks the kid why he hasn't been burning the incense for the last three years. The kid answers that he has a good attitude, and that if he gets some training from the clan, he can change his temperament.
