The next day, the two young men practice naming the plants they recognize. They recognize eight species, including the watery sky-stripe, cold root, earth-dragon fruit, morning mist grass, and finally the yellow-earth spirit. They are able to name 36 species, which is more than enough for them to be able to recognize the 30,000 species of trees and plants that are in the book. They also recognize the nine ground fruit, the wind-seeking stem, and the sun-fruit. They memorize every single chapter of the book, and they win this one.
