The narrator and his brother are still waiting for the fried bao-zi place to open. The narrator tries to get the brother to tell him more about the food, but the brother is too busy trying to teach him how to use the flowers in the stall to make it taste good. The brother tries to explain that the food is not good enough for him, and that he will have to eat more if he wants to keep up with his brother's food obsession. He tells the narrator that he has made a necklace out of the food and wants to wear it when he returns home. He says that the young master will be waiting for him outside the town, and he will beat him down when he gets back. He is sure that these events have already happened, and his memory is repeating them. He wants to sleep in the illusion that he created.
