The narrator begins this chapter by asking himself, "Is everything that I'm experiencing in the illusion created by my fragmented memory so bad that it's going to cause me to die?" . He then proceeds to explain that he's experiencing everything inside his illusion, until his soul collapses and he can't get out of it anymore. He's afraid that something bad is going to happen to him. The narrator tells us that the aura of the moonlight woodland is so strong, that he might be able to lose track of the evil creature who's trying to escape. He also says that the souls of all the spirits that were supposed to be wandering in the woodland are gone. He doesn't know why, but he does know that they're in the woods. He says that if fairies of his level go into the woods, he'll be in for a "certain death" , and that's why they've been gone for so long. He wonders if the three people who just flew past them were fairies, or if they were just trying to get away from the sound spirits. He asks if they could be related to what's been going on in the woodlands, and the narrator says that it seems like there's something wrong with the "mallow woodlands" . It's too
