About This Chapter
The narrator is confused about who he really is. He's not sure what he remembers from his childhood, but he does know that he and his brother lost their parents when they were young. They were forced to live on the streets for several years, and they were homeless for a long time. The narrator tells the little girl that she should take care of her body. The little girl is impressed by the narrator's cooking skills, and the narrator thanks her for her kindness. The girl asks the narrator why she can't eat, and she tells her that she's starving to death if she doesn't have something to eat. She tells the girl that the girl brought a woman back to her village, but the girl says that she didn't do anything wrong, and that it's fine that she brought the woman back because she was supposed to bring her back to the village. She asks the girl if she'll make sure that her grandfather punishes her for bringing the strange woman back. She says that if she lets the man go like this, she won't bear the humiliation.
