The next morning, the two young men go to the mountains to find medicine. They arrive at the yang-ming academy, where they learn that the students taking entrance exams will have their scores cancelled if they cheat. They also learn that it is impossible for them not to pass the exam, as they are considered geniuses in their village. They decide to meet their brother, lucao, in the inner courtyard.
