The scene opens with the smell of burning flesh. It's the scent of Galan's "fairy-tale" , and the smell is so strong that it makes the narrator feel "exhausted" and "sick" . He wants to devour her, but he can't because she's young and "too young" to be his "first level . . and it's a "little too young" beast. He decides to set the place on fire and kill both of them.
