In this chapter, we learn that the master of the Heavenly Spirit sect, Lu, has returned from the battlefield. He tells the young man that he was the one who gave him the foundation building pill. The young man is horrified at the thought that he has given the master a fake pill. He also tells Lu that he will give him the recipe for the "superstitious golden pill" as a reward for his hard work. He explains that the pill is the cure for "blood melting pill" and that it has been lost for 5,000 years. He says that people think that tao is "total apathy," but he explains that as humans, we are supposed to care for each other and forget about our emotions. He adds that as a cultivator, he is supposed to forget about emotions and reach immortality, but forgetting about emotions is different from forgetting about them. He thanks Lu for teaching him how to cultivate and says that he believes in fate.
