The narrator tells Dongha that he's got his own money, and he'll buy him anything he wants. Dongha asks if there's anything else he wants, and the narrator tells him that he has always wanted to be a rich man. He's just not into the idea of living in a big house with an elevator. He says that he hates the way Dongha has become, and that if only he had turned Dongha down like that, he wouldn't have to live in such a way. The narrator says that Dongha is the only one who's acting like a crazy person. He tells him to go ahead and do it, but Dongha should hurry to bed, because it's time for him to get some sleep. He asks Dongha to kiss him and pat him on the back, but he doesn't want to do that, because he thinks Dongha's going to blush at the sight of him doing so. He wonders why he needs to straighten up his back more, because his head is crooked, and his back needs to be straightened more. He also says that now Dongha will be unable to go see him, because of his crooked back. He apologizes for acting like this, and says that if he were a normal person, he would be kind, gentle, and sensitive. But now, he says, he is just "childish and petty" . He wants to drink some more, but the narrator warns him not to drink too much, because the worst thing that could happen is that he gets sick.
