The narrator is still up, and he's looking at a picture of Kim and his new girlfriend. He's shocked to find out that Kim is actually old, and that Kim's girlfriend took the picture to show off her new boyfriend. The narrator doesn't know why Kim looks so old, but he does know that Kim likes to be young and handsome. Kim, he says, likes it that way, because it means that he can change his appearance whenever he likes. Kim is right, the narrator says, because he can't change what he looks like, because that's a special thing that only a special person can do. Kim says that if Kim were to look like the narrator, he wouldn't be able to do anything about it, because Kim would just look at him and think, "Oh no, I'm not old like that." The narrator says that Kim looks good, but that Kim has never looked at him like that before. Kim asks the narrator if he thinks Kim will show him what Kim looks like if he asks, and the narrator tells him that Kim will. Kim loses one of his shoes, so the narrator is left with only one shoe.
