About This Chapter
Kim byeong asks the old prick, a civil officer, to give him a week's worth of money. The old prick refuses, saying that he'll take his daughter as "a slave" if they don't pay back the money within that week. Young-jin says he's fine with that, but he'd rather be a slave than pay back his father's loan. The young-jins are shocked to learn that the civil officer is a loan shark, and they're not happy about it. They're also shocked that the man is serving as a scholar's official, and that he doesn't know how to deal with loan sharks. They all laugh at the idea that a scholar official could be a "loan shark" , and wonder why the man didn't tell them about it earlier. They also wonder why they've been called to the inspector's house, and why the inspector hasn't come to help them. The inspector tells them that he went overboard earlier in the day, and he apologizes for taking their daughter as a "slave" . He's going to write off all of the money they borrowed, so they should take the sword and leave.
