The narrator returns to the beauty salon where she has been working as an esthetician. She is surprised to find that the owner, Tachikawa, has left to go live with his family in another part of the country. The narrator is also surprised to learn that her husband, Tommo, is also leaving the salon. The two women discuss their marriage, and the narrator confesses that she is "getting sick of it" .
