The scene opens with a flashback to a time when the boss and his son were on a business trip to a resort town in the south of Japan. The father, however, is not feeling well, so he leaves the boy with his mother and goes to pay the bill at the hotel. When he returns, he finds that the mother is still asleep and that the father is unable to move. He asks the father to carry the boy to safety, but the father refuses, saying that he cannot do so because he is afraid of the boy's reaction to his father's presence
