In this chapter, the students discuss the results of the university's mathematics competition. The first-place team is led by Zhan Shao, and the second- and third-place teams are led by Yuxie and Zhengzhou Zhengzhou, respectively. The students wonder who will take the first prize in the individual contest, and they wonder why they haven't heard of Zhengzhou's name. They also wonder why Zhengzhou hasn't won yet. Zhengzhou is a high school town in Henan province, and there are thirty-four high schools in the whole province competing for the top prize. They wonder why the teacher didn't make a mistake in giving the exam to Zhengzhou students, but Zhengzhou insists that the teacher made a mistake. He says that the reason why he performed so well in the previous year's competition was because of his mental status, which made him feel as if he was in the "zone" . He also says that Zhengzhou has more geometry problems this year than he did last year. He wonders if the students are terrifying, and wonders if they have the "power of thunder" , and he wonders if it's time for Zhengzhou to leave the competition arena after the competition. He hopes that the exam will be easier next year.
