About This Chapter
At the end of the chapter, Mr. Gu arrives at the school. He welcomes the student, who has performed well in class recently. He praises the student's enthusiasm for learning. The student coughs and says that he is clearly a "school punk" . He tells the student that he thinks that luck is a part of his strength, and that he looks forward to the midterm exam. He says that the student may be disappointed in the exam, as it is difficult for the proctor to deal with students who are taking multiple entrance exams at the same time. He adds that he has heard rumors that there are some couples in the class, but he does not know who they are. He goes on to say that the proctor is definitely a "ruthless man" who stands by the grove at night and is stung by mosquitoes on his legs. He blames the student for not changing his name when he does good deeds. He asks the student if he really wants to change his name, and the student says that this is the "basic principle of human beings." He asks if he looks like a person who "takes advantage of others" , and he asks if no name counts as a name. He wonders why Mr. yang has come to judge the little competition. The person who helped him adjust the painting is not there, he says, because he has to hide it. He wants to know who he is.
