He is afraid that the teacher will think he is crazy if he tries to translate the sentence into another language. He asks the students why they are practicing handwriting, and the students reply that they were coughing on the exam day, but that their symptoms disappeared quickly when they were checked by a school doctor. When the exam was over, the students said that they did not have a headache, and they were confident that they would perform well in the exam, but when the exam ended, they realized that they had had a headache and were afraid to take the exam again.
