This chapter's epigraph comes from the opening lines of the book's opening chapter, in which a stray cat is shown to be the sworn enemy of chen Xuyan, the brother of the main character. The cat is a member of the demon family, and chen is worried that the cat is his sworn enemy. He tells the cat that he is the most powerful demon in the world, and that his brother is also a member. He explains that his little brother has been tardy for school and has beaten up some of his classmates. He says that he has told the cat not to trick his brother into attending his parent's meeting, but the cat has tricked chen to do so. . The little brother is scared to meet the general, and the general greets him. The general explains that the demon clan is the first group of lesser demons that have been born into the world. The demon family relied on the tree of life to survive, and by the time they were able to fight back, they were already in hell for a long time.
