About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a description of charcoal black fur, like darkness. It's like a giant, imposing frame. Itsuchi says that senzou is the coolest girl he's ever met. He's totally into the idea of the black fox, the king of bakemono. He says that he'd crush her if she were like that. He also says that the smell of the plant is so bad that it's almost like an animal has ripped the plant to shreds. The smell is bad enough, he says, but the plant also has the name "kakuremino" , which means "invisibility" in Japanese. It smells like dried sardines and catnip, which is why the plant smells so bad. The chapter ends with a soliloquy by itsuchi, in which he says that his partner, hagiri, is useless.
