In this chapter, the monster explains that his name means that he was born with "tremendous power" and that he has been feared and hated by many for centuries. He tells the brat that since he is a white fox, he must work for "the gods" . The brat says that he is starving, and the monster tells him to eat. He says that they are in the "space between the underworld" and the "mundane world" from now on, and that they will be living there together. He asks the brat why he looks so scary, and he tells him that he had lots of siblings, and they were normal. They must have known he was different from them, he says, because they forced him out of the "nest" and exiled him from society.
