The badger and the tanuki follow the badger to the mountain where he was born. They find the mountain covered in snow and all of his siblings dead. The tanuki thanks the badger for his help in getting the mountain back. He tells the men to stand back and take care of the intruders. When he is reborn, he will be a normal beast.
