In this chapter, we're introduced to a new character, Magua. Magua is the leader of a band of pirates who've just returned from a battle in which they were defeated by the King of Spain's army. He's the one who's been leading the charge against the King's forces, and he's also the guy who was in love with Magua when she was a girl, so Magua has a lot to say about that. He tells Magua that he'll kill Magua if she tries to kill him today, and Magua tells him to forget about it.
