The scene opens in the palace of peace, where the prince is sitting with his mother and sister. The prince is annoyed that his sister is behaving like a child and that she is still not getting her hands off him. He tells his mother that he does not care what people think of him and that he will just drop his swordplay and go home. The queen's servant, lady shaoli, tells the prince that her bellyache has caused her to go to the side palace. She asks the prince to take care of her, but the prince refuses, saying that he is going to go home to see a doctor. He then tells his sister that he has searched all the side palaces, but he cannot find her. He wants to go directly to her mansion and ask for her.
