In this short scene, we learn that the crown prince has been seriously wounded by an assassin, and that he has been sent back to the Eastern Palace to be changed. When he is changed, he tells his father-in-law that he saved the prince's life and sent him home. He tells the prince that his son, the emperor's son, will reward the person who saved him.
