The next morning, the guys hear a gunshot. They investigate and find nothing wrong. They decide to go check out the fireworks for the girl's birthday. The girl comes with them and tells them that there are "monsters" in the city. The guys decide to take her to safety. They tell her to stay out of the way of the monster. They also tell her that the city is under an "unknown catastrophe" and that she should stay away from the area where the fireworks are being held. She begs them not to push the monster too far, but they refuse to listen to her. She tells them to hold off on pushing the monster because it is too big. She says that she can't get to her family because the monster is there. The guy tells her that it's his job to protect her, and he doesn't want her to die. He tells her to send him back to the government. She agrees.
