In this short scene, we get a look at Wood's preparations for the upcoming battle. He's in the middle of a conversation with the dean of the medical school and the consul general, and he's worried that Wood is not up to par with the other candidates. He wants to know if he'll be able to beat them. He tells Wood to stop joking and to go back to sleep. He also tells him to stop worrying about yifei and to stop being so ungrateful to her. He says that if he hadn't been so ungrateful, he would be dead. He goes on and on about how he knows her and how she's been dumping patients to him like he was working for charity. He doesn't know how to stop crying, but he does know that he has to keep believing that he can beat the other guys. He even tells Wood that the entire world is on his side and that he needs to keep fighting. Wood is shocked to find out that
