About This Chapter
The song opens with a poem about a disobedient and brave young man named Cyrano. Cyrano is the protagonist of the story, and he tells the audience that he was once a weak person who loved magic. He explains that the injustices of the past made humans have an aversion to magic, but that he could not beat a human in front of axata because he hated himself for being weak. He decides that it would be safer to hide his love for magic deep inside himself, so that he can choose the path that suits him best. He asks Cyrano if he would like to go to a mixed school, where magic classes are open to humans, or to a school with no magic classes at all, where he would not be able to learn how to use magic. The protagonist tells Cyrano that he does not like magic, and that he has made up his mind to be a human who understands magic better than the axats. He says that he will never give up on his quest to understand magic, even if it means giving up any chance to do so. When Cyrano asks him why he is there, he tells him that he just went to visit his brother. He wants to have dinner at the school with the other students.
