The song opens with a soliloquy by cynnie. She tells the audience that she has something important to talk to them about, but that they are not listening to what she has to say. She says that they should not ask each other about their business, and should not cross the lines again. She also tells them that the previous girls were all girls and they served them personally so that they would not be bullied by the young master Lanyan. This time, however, Lanyan is a man and she will serve him. Lanyan tries to get her to admit that she does not need her help, but she says that she is staying at the house of the qi and that she wants to play with him. She interrupts him and tells him that she will be his personal maid from now on. He says that he does not have a maid and that he is recruiting one now. He tells her that his relationship with Lanyan has no bearing on the curse, and he says that Lanyan would be comforted if he knew that there was someone in the house who had known Lanyan before he started the curse.
