Song of Reverberation

On a day when he is supposed to be helping a friend, the narrator goes to the apartment of a painter who is also a friend of his. He finds that the apartment is very quiet and that the address given to him by the painter is the wrong one. He is very angry that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time and that his destiny has started to run the wrong way. He asks the painter if he is okay and the painter says that he is. The narrator asks the girl if she is okay, and the girl says that she looks just like him. The girl slaps the narrator in the face and the narrator is very upset. He tells the girl that if she slaps someone without a reason, they'll fight back. He begs her to use every second of her life to please listen to him, and she weeps. She tells him that although she looks very much like him, she's not going to fight back because she has a good reason for slapping him.
