The song opens with a soliloquy by cynnie, in which she laments the fact that the man who was supposed to meet her has not shown up. She tells the audience that she has already confessed to chen that there is something wrong with the man, and that he will continue to disappear. . She asks chen to think of a new way to break the curse cycle, but chen says that he does not mind if it is the male lin, as long as it is not the female lin. She says that the night she found him, she wanted to help chen take him back, but the man escaped with magic. She also says that chen did not want to trade him for her, as he was special to her, and she wants to see how he affects her. She wants to know how much chen affects her, but she knows that she did not protect him well in the beginning, and so she will not play like that again. She adds that s/he should hurry up to take away the little boy, as the boy is trying to use the zier brothers as a way to stall, and he will kill him if he is not taken away. She then says that she and her brother have been suppressed by the gray family for so long that they could not depend on them.
