In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character, a young woman named Anzai. Anzai is the daughter of a physician, and her father is a member of the Brotherhood, a religious organization dedicated to the revival of Christianity in the United States. When Anzai's father dies, Anzai and her mother are left to care for her orphaned brother.
