In this chapter, Guotao and Chingyan discuss the strategy of winning the match. Chingyan wins the first frame, and then wins the next two. He is confident that he can win the match even if Chingyan does not make any mistakes. He says that Chingyan is a "rhythm crusher" , and that he could "snook me till end of days." Chingyan asks if he can wait to make his victory speech in front of the crowd before the final, and he says that he will go back to China to teach Chingyan how to speak properly. He adds that he had some "absurd intentions" when Chingyan asked him to kick off the ball, but Chingyan had no intention of losing the game with Chingyan being liu-jiung. He feels that he is responsible for losing the match, because Chingyan wants to win.
