In this short scene, the young protagonist is introduced to his friends, who are all "decent players" . He asks one of them if he should take off his shirt to play pool with his friends. The other two agree, but the protagonist is annoyed that he has to leave his room to play. He tells the other players that they are all good players, but that he wants to continue playing in private. He complains that his brother, "cheng haiyan," can be annoying, and that he and his brother are siblings. He says that he hopes someone will change his brother so that he will not be so annoying. The protagonist tells the others that he is playing a game of pool and that the guy who potted the pool without a bridge is not just a "brave punk," but a "bully punk." He tells them that he won't be able to play with the other two because he hasn't yet made a "jump shot" with one of the other guys. He explains that he needs to keep the rest of his balls in line so that the "black" , the object of the shot, will not touch it. He then tells the group that his little instructor commanded him to
