This chapter opens with a stab at the Senior Ten-Tail's chest. He tells his brother that he won't take pity on him again and that he'll take care of his sister-in-law as long as he stays calm. He also tells him that if he tries to seal her away, he's going to take her with him. He's dying of thirst, he says, like the sun and like the shadow of the moon. He begs his brother to give him some flowers and a lantern so that he can celebrate the new year with his family. When he sees that his brother is already dressed in red, he asks his brother how he will dress himself up for the New Year.
