This chapter opens with a soliloquy by Dr. Bledsoe in which he says that he can't drink blood without permission. He says that if a person drinks blood without his permission, that person is guilty of a crime. He then goes on to say that if the person wants to drink blood, then they should forgive him because he saved them before. This is a reference to the fact that he saved Caius from being bitten by a dog and that Caius has been infirmary for a while. He tells Caius to think of the fight as a fight between two dogs. He promises to help Caius teach the two dogs a lesson. Caius asks why it's different from what he expected and Caius says that maybe Caius doesn't really belong to him. He wants to talk to him with the miss. He asks if she's feeling well, and she says that she isn't. He's going to bring her back home safely.
