In this chapter, we learn that Nemo's body is trapped in the water, and he is unable to move, breathe, or communicate with his friends. He is also unable to communicate with the goblin, who has been hovering over him. Nemo asks if the goblin is trying to pull him into the water. The goblin responds by saying that he saw a little girl at close range, and that it was easy for him to control the little girl. Nemo realizes that the water does not belong to him, as it is "dull and stiff" .
