The Governess tells Lockwood that she's taking Rosalind's place at the school because she wants to study for mid-terms. She's not sure why Rosalind didn't tell her about the early start, but the Governess is all, "oh well." She'd like to know what's different about the school, but she can't figure out how to do it. She tells Lockwood to make sure everything's clean before she leaves. He's totally floored by what he's just witnessed. He tells her that Rosalind is so into helping him that she runs around like a "roach" . He also tells her to "do your best" at school, since he hasn't heard from alvan in a while. He asks her to go visit him.
