He's worried about his mom, who's on a business trip to China, and his dad, who wants to move to China to run his company. The narrator tells us that he and his mom often send each other messages like this, and that their relationship has gotten better recently, but now that mom's gone, dad is starting to be a little sensitive. He tells the narrator to enjoy the school trip and to eat well, because his mom is on her way to China. He wants to know what's going on, but he can't figure out what to say. He goes to the horse meat store, where the food is really good, and complains about how much more expensive it is now. He doesn't understand why it's such a big deal now, but when he's done with school, he'll be able to live on his own.
