In this chapter, the reader is introduced to a number of characters, each of whom is a member of the school's "clubs," or groups of students who meet regularly to discuss subjects. The club activities are divided into four sections, each with a different number of words to describe a student. The first section is devoted to describing a "cooking club idiot," "fans of an idol," and "good at doing housework." The second section describes a "bloofing ab club," and the third section describes the "conversation club model student." The reader is then introduced to the vice president of the "student council," a group of students that meets weekly to discuss the latest happenings in the school. The vice president, Kim Ki-yeon, is a good-natured and witty man, and he is a frequent visitor to Kim's home. He is the one who first broaches the subject of the cooking club idiot and the strawberry advantage, and who, in turn, introduces the "hot-headed" student, miri, and the "dreaded girl," sia. Kim is the first to admit that he has a crush on sia, but he is careful not to reveal it to his mother.
