The narrator explains that he has been dragged away from home by his mother. He is now in a subway station in Gangwondo, and he is alone with his friend, Kyeongran. The two of them are planning to go on an impromptu trip, but the narrator says that he never said that he would go on such a trip. He says that they are traveling without any preparation, and that he came to change his mood. He asks why his friend is talking so much, and the young man replies that he is unhappy playing with him for a day. The young man says that his friend's friend is so excited about a trip that she suddenly came to him and became like this, perhaps something happened to her friends. The narrator asks why he is not eating the cold noodle he ordered for him, and says that it is not like that. He tells his friend that they have not made a reservation yet for a room, but that there are lodgings around the city. He has his card with him, but there is not enough money left. He withdraws money from his card to pay for the trip, and tells his father that he does not want to use the money because it is a trip with his mother candidate. He explains that they do not have enough money for a pension room, and if they rent two rooms in a guest house, it would cost too much. His father points out that there is a separate room in a hotel for both men and women, and they will use it for sleeping and then check it out.
