The narrator tells us that he's just called an ambulance and asked for a stretcher. He's not sure what's going on, but he knows it's a bad sign. The narrator says that he was in school and got into a lot of fights and lost a lot. He says that when he looked at the sky, he felt like nothing mattered and that he could do nothing but sit on the ground and wait for the older man to die. He tells the narrator that he feels like he has to shoulder the whole burden of the world on his shoulders.
