About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a description of the fight that is to take place in Toyo. The narrator tells us that whoever wins the fight is going to be watched by all the "influential delinquents" in Tokyo, and that the two main opponents are the "bad dudes" out on the street. One of these guys is a member of the 1988 criminal black gang, and he is known as "the big fish" from that group. He tells the narrator that he is the one who has seen the fight and that he has a message for the other guys: if the fight loses, he's going to kick their asses. The other guys say that if Toman wins, they're going to take him back, but only if they can prove that he joined them on his own. They're not going to do that now, they say, because they've already taken him back.
