About This Chapter
The school year is upon us, and it's time for the entrance ceremony for the new students. We're introduced to the school bully, Chifu matsuno, who's just turned 12 years old. He's the leader of the school's punk club, which means he's got a lot of power over the other students. He tells us that one of the other boys in class 3 has been held back from entering the school because he was too smart for his class. This is a big deal, because it means that he'll have to wait until the following year to enter the school as well. The other boys are psyched to hear this news, but they're not sure what to make of it. They tease the bully for being so rude, but he'd rather die than be held back again. Finally, he tells the bully that he can't make his mom cry, so he won't have to go back to school. The bully is all, "shut up, dumb ass, what a weirdo" , and the boy is all "you wanna die, you fuckin' moron" . Then the bully tells the boy that the guy he beat up was the boss of a local biker gang, so his life is over. The boy says that he was trying to get out of a fight with twenty other guys, but the guy in front of him ambushed him with a gun. The guy in the middle of the fight is the captain of the local gang, and he is the one who beat up the other guy. The kid says that the girl who beat him was the first person he ever met who was cool, and that's how he ended up living in the same building as the other boy.
