About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a discussion of the firing of chatter, a member of the 6th division of Tokaio. The chapter's title refers to the fact that this is the first time that a captain has been fired from his position. The conversation then turns to kisaki, who has been the subject of much of the discussion. The two men discuss whether or not to believe that toman has gotten too big, and kisaki responds by saying that to man's goal from the start was to become second in command to mikey. If it gets bigger, he says, it will "breed darkness" and he will take on that darkness.
