The chapter opens with a conversation between Mitchy and Rinehart. Mitchy says he's got some bad news for Rinehard. He's been fighting with him for a long time, and they've been living in the same neighborhood for a while now. He says that he was punched by two people, and he doesn't know why. He thinks Mitchy is a "total bad ass" , and that he likes to slug people just because they're "sleepy" and "hungry" . He also says that Mitchy will "pour gaso line" over a car if hungry, and will "set it on fire" if hungry . The conversation continues, with Mitchy saying that he used to be a member of the same gang as Rinehardt and that they used to gather together to establish their gang. He asks Mitchy if he can bring Biron back from Valdosta, and Mitchy agrees. They're going to have to get him back before the end of the school year, but Mitchy promises that he can do it for him if he fails. He then says that if Mitchy fails, he can prove to him that he is more useful than Kisaki, and if he does fail, he will reward Mitchy for his failure. The two of them are excited to work together, and when Mitchy asks why he'd been listening to them, they say that they were looking for the bathroom and heard Mitchy talking to them.
