About This Chapter
In this short scene, Ruchika tells the audience that she is sixteen years old and has decided to have a romantic affair with a handsome boy. She is wearing the earrings given to her by the maid, and she is in love with the boy, who is a member of the same family as her father. She wishes that the boy would change his mind about the affair, but he does not. She tells him that he has no intentions of changing anything, and that he will not be changing anything at all. She asks him if he is planning to commit suicide, and he replies that he is not planning suicide, but that he feels confused about the events of the past few days. He is afraid that the date of the wedding will be a celebration of their feelings for each other, and so he decides to leave them all alone for a bit. He tells Rachika that the wind has sent him to the end of his rope. He feels that he gets a "ghost" of the woman who is his lover, and the woman's head is stuck in the water. He wonders if the woman is a ghost, or if she is a woman who will become his wife. He says that he wants to take off his ring after everything is going well, so that he can take off the ring after he feels satisfied with his life. He then says that the woman behind him is a "scared" man, and when she smiles, it makes him think that it is okay to be scared of her. He also says that after he became her pet, he finally became her. She replies that she loves him too, and they are both in love. She says that they are going to college together to help with the family hospital, and then they will be able to get their families on good terms.
