About This Chapter
Back at the workshop, the foreman introduces himself as Mr. Jarndyce. He explains that he borrowed the elevator so that he could use it to go up and down the walls of the Titan's palace. He also explains that the machine has a flaw: if it only goes down, it is useless against the enemy. The foreman says that he's glad to see Mr. Jaffrey, because Jaffrey is the one who defeated the Titan fifteen years ago. The two of them go inside to eat dinner, and the messenger tells them that they're welcome back. The messenger says that the boy who snuck into the workshop to get a nap is now there, and that he is the manager of the workshop. The boy is named Jakhos, and Jakhos is grateful to the messenger for taking him in and hiding him. He tells the messenger that the survey corps has a shortage of soldiers, so he'll join them once they finish looking for the Titan.
